Biography

Jillian Aversa is an award-winning, classically trained vocalist and songwriter whose shimmering voice has appeared in a medley of musical projects - from hit dance singles, video games, and film, to her own widely-acclaimed original albums. She enjoys working with composers, producers, and musicians from every corner of the industry, and this enthusiasm has led to many rewarding ventures.

Jillian began singing in her family’s home studio at the ripe age of six. Her first "hit single" - a cheery song about saving the rainforest - went on to play in the Omni IMAX theater of Boston's Museum of Science, accompanying a nature film. Unconventional as it was, her love of music was sparked, and she soon committed her life to the field. Developing herself first as a vocalist and performer, Jillian graduated with honors from Peabody Conservatory of Music, winning the George Castelle Memorial Award in voice... But a wandering eye led her to the arena of computer music, and she soon began to supplement her vocal studies with compositional ones.

Jillian's original music is being broadcast to more than 8 million listeners worldwide, spanning over 70 stations including XM and Sirius satellite radio - a number that is rapidly growing. With her debut albums Origins and Through Sand and Snow, Jillian responds to the lack of lyric-centric works in contemporary New Age/World music. Allowing her powerful voice to soar through beds of exotic instrumentation, both albums rely upon her instrument and lyrics not only as the definitive lead, but also as an amalgam of other backing textures, enveloping the listener in her warm sound.

Origins debuted at #8 on the New Age radio charts for two consecutive months, and has since accumulated numerous awards including the #1 New Age Album of 2008 on NewAgeMusic.nu and 2nd Place for "Best New Age Album" in the 2008-2009 JPF Awards. On OurStage.com, Jillian's song "Hajime" triumphed over twenty thousand other submissions to win the $5,000 Grand Prize, and other tracks from Origins have earned her the New Age/World Prize thrice over. Additional honors include 3rd Place in the Indie International Songwriting Contest, Mystic Soundscapes Best of 2007 and 2008 awards, and an honorable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest - while Jillian herself was named “Best Futuristic New Age Singer” on iNewAge.com, a reviewer dubbing her “better than Enya.”

A fan of video game music since the NES days, Jillian jump-started her collaborative recording career by creating and performing arrangements of over a dozen classic video game themes on OverClocked ReMix - where she met her now husband, Andrew Aversa aka zircon! This hobby paved the way for professional credits in games such as Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword (Take Two - PC), Test Drive Unlimited 2 (Atari - Playstation 3, Xbox 360, PC) and Pump It Up Pro 2 (Fun in Motion - Arcade), as well as popular arrange albums like Voices of the Lifestream (Final Fantasy VII).

Another avenue of Jillian's recording success has been writing and performing for commercial projects, ranging from ad demos to goth rock albums, and most notably electronic dance music. Her featured performances on the trance songs "Breathing You In" and "Antigravity", co-written with zircon, bolstered the tracks to #1 in their respective categories at JunoDownload, OurStage, and Garageband.com, while "Just Hold On" is currently being heard by over 500,000 users as the official demo song for FL Studio 9, a popular Digital Audio Workstation and sequencer.

As Jillian looks ahead in her career, she hopes to contribute to the emotional experience of as many unique projects as possible, while further exploring the evolution of her own original music. With endless imagination and a passionate voice, Jillian Aversa is steadily becoming both a critical and popular favorite – and redefining what we think of New Age/World music along the way.

(Origins and Through Sand and Snow are available through CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon, and other major distributors.)

Front page story in Boston area newspapers  (See image)

"Calling Jillian Goldin's debut album [Origins] beautiful is an understatement.  You'll be transfixed by her lush vocals, which blend with light rhythm, flute, and keyboards in a soundscape that will capture your imagination."

- Liz Doan,
Music Design In Review

"Jillian's voice is strikingly beautiful, and the musical accompaniment oddly exotic but never overpowering. In short, it manages to stay true to the spirit of Christmas classics without ever sounding cliché... Through Sand and Snow is a release not to be missed."

-Z,
Wired.com

"Better than Enya."

- iNewAge.com

"Bostonian Jillian Goldin blends dance floor grooves and Celtic rhythm to show off her vocals - which can drift as easily as a feather on a breath of air, but with an emotional power that hits you like a hot summer wind."

- The Cadence Revolution

"One of the new stars in new age music.  ...[Origins] is highly recommended!"

- BT Fasmer,
NewAgeMusic.nu

"Jillian's voice is delicate and powerful, dynamic and compelling - a finely-tuned instrument that becomes a part of the music so intimately that at times I forgot I was listening to a vocal album."

- Pete Havey,
Mystic Soundscapes

"Where Enya Brennan left off, Jillian Goldin could make a good beginning... I can’t wait for the next album.”

- RJ Lannan,
New Age Reporter

"The music is exceptionally good; an angelic voice accompanied by a hypnotic rapture of sound that whispers ancient secrets, forgotten mysteries, and an escape to far off lands. I simply loved [Origins]!  ...Beautifully arranged and composed."

- Douglas Newsom,
BBS Radio

"I really think Jillian has a deep knowledge of music and wisdom of the ages... She is ready to fly and fly high.  Her music is captivating and connects to the spirit of Nature and beyond."

- Laney Goodman,
Women In Music

"It's thick, it's rich, it's dense, it's relaxing."

- Jody Whitesides,
Single of the Day

"Utterly compelling music and vocals which I can best sum up by saying it is the traditional music of a people, culture and history never before seen in this world."

- The Sitting Duck

"The combination of Jillian's voice and the drum beats will take you to another dimension or another time... haunting and hipnotic...  The instrumentation and arrangements are truly flawless."

- Mossip

"Jillian Goldin is one step ahead of the pack."

- Quinn Strassel,
OurStage.com

"[Through Sand and Snow is] yet another proof of Jillian's incredible talent.  The new age music scene desperately needs new talent, and here Jillian is our best hope.  ...Enya will get a lot of competition this holiday season."

- BT Fasmer,
NewAgeMusic.nu

"Wonderful work of art... I couldn't keep myself away from commenting on the simple yet deep, moving thoughts and feelings captured through the lyrics [on Origins]."

- Shankar Dhaneskaran,
New Age Vibe

"Origins is probably one of the best eclectic recordings that I have received in a while.  I'm putting Jillian on the top of my playlist stack of CDs... Fine vocals, great lyrics, and excellent instrumentation...  All tracks are radio fun!"

- Mark, WAWL
Ancestral Rhythms

"I can honestly say [Through Sand and Snow] will become an instant seasonal classic"

- Pete Havey,
Winterscapes & Mystic Soundscapes
